About

This site aims to promote civil discussion and informed understanding of politics around the world. When possible, we aim to help people find common ground, and when not, to encourage understanding of those who hold different views. Content here is written to inform, not to persuade toward any side. Every post separates checkable fact from opinion, and the different “sides” of a contested issue get comparable scrutiny, wherever in the world those sides happen to be.

PoliTalking.com is part of the Worldbridges network, a long-running project built around global conversation, multi-perspective education, and ethical commerce. The network was founded by Jeff Lebow, an educator, longtime expat, and the person who has been buying “bridges” domains since the days of Netscape and AltaVista. A few bridges have been active at various points, but many have remained dormant for years. This is one of the sites in active development.

PoliTalking.com covers politics with a global scope. Here, “bridging” means both things at once: bridging geography and bridging perspectives. Political issues are usually covered through the lens of whichever country the reader happens to live in, and the “sides” of an issue like abortion or immigration map very differently in Nairobi, Warsaw, and Buenos Aires than they do in Washington. We try to present how an issue actually looks across the world, and how a country’s politics actually work, in a way that is legible to readers from anywhere, including readers who disagree with what they find. The United States is covered here too, but as one country among many. A separate site, PoliTalking.us, covers US domestic politics in depth.

To whatever extent business is conducted here, we want to promote fair trade, decent treatment of human workers, and the fairest possible compensation to those who produce content and keep things running. On the editorial side, that same commitment to fairness means sourcing statistics, flagging contradictions instead of quietly resolving them, and stating plainly when something can’t be verified rather than guessing.

PoliTalking.com content currently comes in three formats: Countries (periodic snapshots of a country’s political landscape, dated and preserved rather than updated, so the archive becomes a record of how things looked at the time), Issues (maintained reference pages on how a contested issue is regulated and debated around the world, updated as laws and circumstances change), and News (dated posts covering major developments, linked back to the relevant country and issue pages). Much of the content is AI-assisted and human edited. A non-annoying, trustworthy reader experience is prioritized over chasing clicks.
